Global Head of Experiential Production (agency experience a must)

The Opportunity

Our client is looking for a Global Director of Production to lead teams across integrated event programs on a global scale. They're looking for a leader that's been around the (experiential agency) block, is a change agent, a confidant and a coach for a group of international production teams. The right person will bring hands-on event production expertise, proven financial and operational management skills, and the ability to unite and inspire a diverse team. They should be equally comfortable setting strategic direction and rolling up their sleeves when needed, with the credibility and experience to earn trust and drive results in a fast-paced environment.

As Director of Production, you will work on integrated events and lead a production team on multiple projects. The primary purpose of this position is to lead the integrated delivery of extraordinary brand experiences through flawless execution of big ideas and exceptional client service. You will oversee a team that drives the entire project lifecycle, from event vision and concept to timeline management, budgets, execution, and reporting.

The Ideal Candidate

She/he has 15+ years’ experience and a proven ability to manage event production, staff, and the bottom line. The ideal candidate is a strong leader capable of balancing quality and quantity, guiding multiple project teams to launch top-tier events across the globe. This person will guide, train, and support their teams as an engaged department head, sharing their wealth of knowledge to develop both their staff and sustainable processes.

This executive: 1) energetically oversees a team that produces meaningful consumer experiences through integrated campaigns; 2) develops excellent agency/client relationships; 3) manages teams; and 4) serves as a model agency leader.

Event Management and Growth

  • Oversee a high-volume, fast-paced global event production team that spans multiple clients and offices.

  • Craft and implement event quality standards that serve as a blueprint for best practices and agency growth during a period of evolution.

  • Ensure teams adhere to budgets while managing all necessary insurance and risk requirements.

  • Guide contract and fee negotiations for high-stakes, often time-sensitive production elements.

  • Develop proactive solutions for operational and quality issues within the team and across the company.

  • Troubleshoot conflicts and provide superb crisis leadership in complex, fast-moving environments.

  • Attend events regularly and continually make recommendations that lead to the improvement of the company's mission of delivering executional excellence that drives repeat business.

  • Build and maintain a local knowledge bank of freelance production resources, vendors, venues, and permitting requirements to stay agile in evolving markets.

  • Collaborate with department leaders to foster a culture of coaching, counseling, and cross-team partnership that ensures the next iteration of the agency is positioned for sustained success.

Financial and Operational Management

  • Manage departmental P&L and key financial metrics, including utilization rates, planned vs. actual time, cost variance, and net profit margin.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional department leads to develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures and best practices, ensuring consistency and efficiency across the agency.

  • Provide strategic recommendations and analysis on custom agency fee structures for integrated and/or experiential clients.

  • Maintain and optimize core event production templates (e.g., budget templates) to improve efficiency and accuracy.

  • Develop frameworks for departmental management where none currently exist.

  • Conduct high-level analysis across project types to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Deliver clear, actionable insights to the Executive team to support strategic decision-making.

Resource Planning and Allocation

  • Oversee departmental resource allocation for new business, RFPs, and ongoing projects.

  • Lead capacity planning across global teams, maintaining a holistic view of staffing and resourcing priorities.

  • Ensure time forecasts are created, entered into the system, and communicated to team members.

  • Recommend resource adjustments based on utilization rates, availability, and billability metrics to optimize team performance.

Agency Leadership

  • Contribute to organizational strategy and best practices as a member of the agency's Senior Leadership Team

  • Recommend new systems to improve agency processes, knowledge sharing, and/or client services

  • Participate in mentorship and culture initiatives

  • Actively participate in the learning community at the company, both as an enthusiastic learner and one who shares knowledge with others

  • Identify and undertake leadership/industry initiatives on behalf of the company where appropriate

Performance Management & Talent Development

  • Work with department managers to create a development plan for all employees who are a part of the production team, clearly communicating and facilitating roles and responsibilities delineation and providing guidance and tools to facilitate goal achievement

  • Conduct timely and constructive performance reviews for your direct reports

  • Through words and actions, coach and mentor direct reports, helping to build a culture of continuous learning and expertise

  • Partner with HR team to maintain a steady pipeline of candidates and participate in the successful recruitment of top talent at all levels

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of experience working in a fast-paced agency setting (MUST HAVE AGENCY EXPERIENCE)

  • 10+ years of proven work experience as a VP, Executive Event Producer, or other similar relevant role.

  • 10+ years of supervisory experience

  • Budget management experience managing budgets and/or accounts $5M+

  • Deep experience managing multiple project teams to deliver complex, high-quality events often with short lead times.

  • A strong track record across diverse projects in global event production and experiential marketing.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present, and influence key stakeholders at all levels.

  • The ability to thrive in a high-volume setting, balancing multiple priorities and consistently delivering results under pressure.

  • Leadership skills that inspire confidence and guide teams through growth and evolution, ultimately shaping the agency's next iteration.

  • A proactive, solutions-driven mindset with the ability to lead through challenges and provide clarity in dynamic situations.

  • Strong financial and operational discipline to manage budgets, oversee contracts, and ensure accountability while supporting creativity.

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills to work seamlessly across teams and with clients.

  • Deep knowledge of event production best practices, vendors, venues, and permitting, with the foresight to elevate systems as the agency scales.

  • A passion for delivering extraordinary brand experiences while driving efficiency, innovation, and sustainable growth.

  • Mac proficiency — including expertise in Keynote, Excel, Google Docs, and Outlook.
